TO MOTHERS ON EASTER MORN
(From a Church, Somewhere in Italy)
MEN SIT IN SILENCE IN THIS HOLY ROOM
WHILE IN THE SHADOWS FLOWERS BLOOM.
WITH THOUGHTS OF FOLKS, THE MILES ACROSS,
WE SEE OUR GOD IN A CANDLED CROSS.
A LITTLE ORGAN, THE PORTABLE KIND
GIVES FORTH ITS MUSIC--'TIS EASTERTIME.
WE RISE IN SONG, OUR VOICES RING,
GIVE PRAISE TO GOD, OUR CHRIST OF SPRING.
WE OFTEN FORGET WHEN THINGS GO WRONG
THAT SKIES WERE GREY THROUGH MOTHER’S SONG.
WITH ALL OUR TROUBLES, GREAT AND SMALL,
WE HURT OUR MOTHERS MOST OF ALL.
SO ON THIS DAY THOUGH FAR AWAY,
A MOTHER’S PRAYER I’D LIKE TO SAY:
OH GOD BE WITH OUR MOMS TODAY
AND BRING THEM HOPE, THE FAITHFUL WAY;
AND LET THEM KNOW OUR VICTORY’S END
WILL BE FOR PEACE, GOOD WILL TOWARD MEN. AMEN

SALUTES TO MOTHERS
AGAIN WE GIVE SALUTES TO MOTHERS,
FOR ON THEIR DAY THEY’RE THINKING OF OTHERS.
THEY STAND ON THE SIDE AND WATCH WITH A SIGH,
THEIR JUNIOR AND BILL, AND OTHERS GO BY.
BUT MOTHER OF MINE WITH SADDENED HEART,
YOU WOULDN’T FEEL RIGHT NOT DOING YOUR PART;
TO CLEAR THIS WORLD OF HATRED AND GRIEF,
THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE IN FREEDOM’S RELIEF.
SO STAND UP AND CHEER; AND HELP US GO BY,
FOR WE ARE THE BOYS IF NEED BE TO DIE.
IN COLUMNS WE’RE MARCHING, IN STEP TO THE BAND-
EYES RIGHT WITH SALUTES, TO THE MOTHERS OF OUR LAND.

Historical Artifacts: We are looking for photos, documents and other types of artifacts including uniforms and gear of the 15th Air Force in World War II as well as other units and commands. We accept electronic/scans or originals of pictures and paper records. A General Order could be an award document that contains information on many servicemen. Special Orders may contain transfers or other information. Flight records, accident reports, maintenance logs, after action reports, pilot encounter reports, diaries and biorgraphies; all of these types of documents help us support or mission: preserving your history! Contact us today for instructions on sending us this material.
